Lightning Rod Installation
Lightning is a discharge event between the cloud and the ground. A high-density electrical field is formed due to positive and negative charge differences, and when it reaches the point of dispersion, an electrical discharge occurs. This discharge occurs between the clouds and the ground in the form of lightning.
The discharge process is carried out by means of a lightning rod. Lightning rods are placed at the highest points of buildings and are ensured to be at least 1.5 meters above the highest point. Lightning rod installations consist of 3 stages; lightning rod head, down conductor and grounding.
The purity of the copper cables to be used for lightning rod grounding must be 95% electrolytic copper. The resistance measurement of the soil to be connected is required to be below 5 Ohms.
Proper lightning rod installation is an important issue to be considered in lightning protection.
